Minister’s Seminary I - Course Description

RD-100 ROLE of a MINISTER 
Presents biblical facts, teachings and UHSCA tenets of correct and moral living to contrast secular ideas and concepts defining what a Minister is, the qualifications, duties, responsibilities, and obligations of men and women of the clergy. Course content will draw a distinction between socially acceptable attitudes and behaviors versus the demonstration of spiritual principles in daily life.  

RD- 101 LEGAL ISSUES for MINISTERS
Basic legal guidelines for ministerial practice will be examined. Course content will provide information for obtaining legal recognition of individual ministerial status in the United States. Course content will focus on the legal manner to conduct business as a minister. Topics will include; contracts, leases, zoning, credentialing, bookkeeping, spreadsheets, IRS requirements for a church, EIN, 501-C status, taxes, fundraising, community activism, partnerships, and referrals.

RD-102 SERMON PREPARATION  
Outlines a basic format to organize and prepare a standard (simple) or complex sermon. Course content will provide basic guidelines on how to select a subject, topic, sub-topic, and how to research relevant reference materials. This course meets concurrent with RD-103 Public Speaking.

RD-103 PUBLIC SPEAKING 
Provides a timed-practice platform for public speaking. The principles of public speaking and select various types of speeches will be defined and analyzed. Topic selection; speech organization; creating outlines; audience analysis; content and presentation aids (verbal and nonverbal) and techniques of managing nervousness. The student will prepare and deliver an informative, persuasive and evocative (humorous) speech. This course meets concurrent with RD-102 Sermon Preparation.     

RD 104 PROCEDURE and PROTOCOL
Provides the recognized format of the UHSCA for conducting services, meetings, rites and rituals, and special ceremonies.

HP-100 BIBLICAL HISTORY: OT (OLD TESTAMENT)
Provides spiritual insight into the primary doctrinal book of the global religious community. Module content will encourage discussion about the spiritual significance of the writings of the Old Testament as it impacts the post-modern society. This course meets concurrent with HP-102.

HP-101 OVERVIEW of WORLD RELIGIONS 
An introduction to the beliefs and practices of various religions of the world. Course content will focus on similarities rather than differences to enhance understanding of the diversity that exists within the religious community.  

HP-102 SPIRITUAL INTERPRETATION of SCRIPTURE
Explores the esoteric, or spiritual meaning of the ancient people, places, things, events, and locations as recorded in biblical writings. This course meets concurrent with HP-100.

 
IM-100 LEADERSHIP
An exploration of various leadership styles and traits with a focus on individual leadership development. Course content will focus on preparing the seminary student to function as a transformational leader.

IM 101 DEFENDING the FAITH
Presents scriptural reference passages that support our spiritual doctrine. Course content will focus on scriptural passages that support the tenets of spiritual philosophy of the indwelling God.   

PRACTICUM
The culmination of Ministers Seminary I. A randomly selected student(s) will present a previously graded sermon in one of two practicum sessions (April or August). 

The grade for the practicum is Pass (P) or Fail (F). 

Student participation is mandatory. Should the number of student presentations outweigh the number of practicum sessions available, grading will revert to the Official Grading Scale to determine the grade of Pass (P) or Fail (F).     

Minister’s Seminary II - Course Description

RD-200 LEGAL ISSUES FOR MINISTERS 2
Provides legal guidelines for rendering services to the community. This course is a continuation of RD-101. Course content will focus on partnering/collaborative agreements, fundraising, community partnerships, Chaplaincy, social services. Topics will include; contracts, leases, zoning, credentialing, bookkeeping, spreadsheets, IRS requirements for a church, EIN, 501-C status, taxes, fundraising, community activism & referrals.

RD-201 SERMON PREPARATION 2
Provides seminary students with the format for developing sermons for different audience types. Course content will guide students through refining subject and topic selection, and reference points toward the presentation of a standard or complex sermon suitable for different audiences. 

RD-202 PUBLIC SPEAKING 2
Continuation of RD-103. Provides a timed-practice platform for public speaking. The principles of public speaking and select various types of speeches will be defined and analyzed. Topic selection; speech organization; creating outlines; audience analysis; content and presentation aids (verbal and nonverbal) and techniques of managing nervousness. The student will prepare and deliver an informative, persuasive and evocative (humorous) speech. This course meets concurrent with RD-201 Sermon Preparation.    

RD-203 PROCEDURE and PROTOCOL 2
Provides an advanced format of conducting services, meetings, rites and rituals, and special ceremonies. 

HP-200 BIBLICAL HISTORY: NT (NEW TESTAMENT)
Intense discussion of the New Testament writings of the Holy Bible with exploration of the Four Gospels.  Course content will focus on the life and times of Jesus the Christ, New Testament prophets, the early church, the book of Revelations, and the fulfillment of biblical promises. The course will examine the impact of the Four Gospels on the role of the post-modern church. Course content will encourage spiritual thought and engage discussion about the influence of these writings on the development and perpetuation of various beliefs and practices.   

HP-201 OVERVIEW OF WORLD RELIGIONS 2
A continuation of the introduction to the beliefs and practices of various world religions. Course content invites students to focus on similarities rather than differences that exist among the multi-faceted religious community. 

HP-202 SPIRITUAL INTERPRETATION OF SCRIPTURE 2
Spiritual insight on some of the most quoted passages of the Holy Bible. Course focus is the spiritual interpretation, implication, and application of biblical for the advancement of spiritual understanding.

HP-204 SPECIAL TOPICS
Presents select topics of importance to developing seminary students: The Ultimate Reality: God; Dispensations-Ages, Times, Eras; Avatarship; Reincarnation; Astral World; Salvation vs Enlightenment; Thought Dynamics; The Kingdom of God: Omnipresence, Omnipotence, Omniscience, One Power.

IM-200 LEADERSHIP 2
Presents the most desirable leadership styles and traits to help prepare seminary students to become agents of change in the community and the world. Course content will enhance student ability to function as a transformational leader through optimal utilisation of the Gospel.

IM-201 DEFENDING THE FAITH 2
Presents biblical references of scriptural passages that support our spiritual doctrine. Course content will focus on scriptural passages that support the tenets of spiritual philosophy of the indwelling God.   

PRACTICUM
